for everyone trying to get the "husk of the pit"
Ok so, this is what I did to get that gun. I played "fist of Crota" on normal mode. I also had a black wax idol equipped. I just kept killing the blade of Crota that spawns as you run through that building past that screeching wizard bitch. If he doesn't drop it. Go to orbit and repeat the process. Took me 6 attempts. But it's random so it can take more or less attempts.
EDIT: id like to clarify a few things to help those still trying or gonna make the attempt. 1st, a black wax idol is not required to obtain this weapon. 2nd, there is no bounty tied to acquiring this weapon. 3rd. it seems to be more of a random award when defeating a blade of crota, either done through a patrol or this mission. 4th. you will need hive kills to unlock the upgrade that requires a embalming orb which upgrades it to legendary status and a whole new weapon, someone else posted proof that they had this legendary on the forums. one last thing, good luck to all those still trying, for RNG is a whore.

I got it w/o black wax just now. Killed maybe 3, 4 swordies and one dropped it for me while just patrolling the moon. Wasn't even looking for it. Maybe that's the trick.

Was a lvl 30 hunter doing Eris bounties in the skywatch (old loot cave location); no black wax idol equipped. Patrolled for 1 hr this morning, took a break and did other activities in the game, then came back. Dropped on my 2nd swordbearer kill.

Just to help galvanize information, I received my Husk after about 30 runs of The Fist of Crota. I did not have an active wax idol when it dropped and it did drop from the Blade of Crota knight. Also, I am on the X360. So far, 2 others on my list of 40+ friends currently have the Husk. It's a grind for most, good luck and do something else when you are about to break something....especially if you are not close to rank 3 with Eris. Once you have it, you must kill Hive enemies with it. I chose to do the Dark Below mission on level 8 because the Hust really doesn't do much damage. I killed around 470-500 Hive enemies at rank 8 before it was good to go (not sure of the exact number because I took it on patrol before going to The Dark Below mission).

A thrall gave me mine before the witch left. I was using a new Vg scout rifle and had no wax active or bounty to do. Might help, might not lol

2 RepliesIs that the level 10 Common Hive Auto Rifle? I got mine from killing a Blade of Crota whilst farming the 'underground Hive Majors' that spawn in that area directly adjacent from where you're spawned in on Earth.. just ran down those stairs, and farmed the Hive until a ritual began. Killed the "Blade" and then Husk of the Pit dropped on my head lol... anyway, that's another possible place to get it apparently.

Got it dropped from the crota blade guy while waiting for pub event at The divide. No black wax idol, no in mission. Just rng.

I got it first try then I completed the kill 3 sword bearers before I headed to the tower. I finished it. When I get to the Tower there was another husk of the pits waiting in my mailbox. So now I got two.

I only read about it today. Killed three of the sword carriers for the Eris bounty, went back to the tower, and low and behold, the post master had one sitting there for me. No grinding, no hunting, just fell in my lap lol!
