I'm guessing you primarily stick to FPS games and haven't really experienced the evolving world of MMOs. Granted Destiny is not an MMO in a traditional sense but it does carry some elements of one. Now let's take World of Warcraft as an example. Strictly an MMO and you spend days and weeks and yes sometimes months gearing a character all the while fighting amongst your clan mates for who gets what drops during the raids and so on and so forth, only to have an expansion drop and lo and behold the MONTHS you spent farming and raiding are no completely useless because all that fancy gear is replaced by greens. Basically Destiny isn't for you, CoD or battlefield or I don't know whatever FPS games people are playing now that don't require you to actually level up and gear yourself. What you need is an out of the box shooter and that's fine.
Sense when has any game lived up to the impossible standards of the masses?
Never. lol Even GTA V and GTA Online couldn't live up to the hype (maybe fulfilled 90% of the hype). That's why advertisement should be moderated.
