While I can appreciate both your taste in music and the general message of the thread, I don't think it's quite accurate to minimize someone's current state in life as an opinion.

Your state in life is what it is regardless of how you feel about it. But how you feel about it isn't all that objective. Some people can feel satisfied with little, and some people can't be satisfied with much. I knew a man who lived his young adulthood during the Great Depression. He died years ago, never having made more than $9/hour. Yet he had no regrets. I think that's because he learned to keep his expectations and desires in line with what he could reasonably accomplish. If you always expect too much, you'll always be disappointed. If someone's life is unsatisfying, probably expectations don't align with reality.

My only remark (though misplaced, as it wasn't intentional on Recon's part) was that one's state in life can be bad. And you can have a good view of it, but the bottom line is that bad things happen, regardless of your perception. I do agree with what you said though.

Opinion, mindset, have come to the conclusion, think or feel something it be true..... each and all of those are a personal assessment of their own situation. It's just one word out of 3 freaking paragraphs quickly typed because an old (and very cool) song made me reminisce and want to encourage others to "hang in there". If your take-away was that I was minimizing the situations of others based on one word? Fair enough. I'll just listen to the song again and let it put a smile on my face.

I was a bit hesitant to post that, as I figured your sentence was more than likely a misconcieved idea, so I'm glad you confirmed it. I do really appreciate this thread, it's a very nice gesture.

No worries. I know that words matter, and that Shaw was right when he said, ""The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place." TBH, I am puzzled and somewhat surprised that this little "hey I just heard a song and it made me think" post has gotten such attention and especially such scrutiny regarding its wording. *shrug* If I had known it would, I likely would have thought it through more carefully, chosen better and more descriptive words, and then built a wall of text that no one would have bothered to read. Such tough decisions to make and heavy issues to consider when creating what you think is going to be a throwaway shitpost. I need more coffee.

Such is the life of a known poster always under the public eye.
