Yeah most mmos offer a bunch of different ways to upgrade, but in most of them, the weapons you get from a tier one raid are only effective in that and maybe the tier 2 raid, there is no mmo that allows you to keep the same weapons throughout the entire lifespan of the game. For instance, in an anime beat em up called elsword, i was lvl 60, max level, they raised the max to 70, opened up an entire new area, and moved some things around to add alittle bit of end game to it. I could not use my lvl 60 gear even at lvl 65. What i think they should do though, is let the raid items in The first raid be effective in this second raid, but after that, leave the attack values at where they are now, and increase the attack value of the second raid weps for the third raid, that way there is progression.

  • I think the fundamental difference in this comparison is that in other MMO's your weapon or armor is just a piece of equipment which your character levels into. Destiny however, your character is already locked at 20 and its the equipment leveling you invest in to get you further. This means you have a bigger investment in that item that other MMO equipment. It makes it harder to face that all the gear you have spent months of time investing in and improving is just to be discarded for a new shiny item, which you also know is only going to get thrown away in a few months time on the second DLC. Think about the outcry if your next Wow expansion came out where you had to start a new character to progress further. Similar to the Starwars KOTOR MMO where to be come a Jedi character you started a new character instead of "upgrading" your existing character.

There are mmos that work in the same way destiny does but better, dc universe online and lord of the rings online also have a system similar, where you hit max and your equipment is what makes you higher tier. In most mmos, every time an update concerning pvp is out, you usually have your charactee reset, what we should be asking bungie for, is to bring back the talent point system. That way when in situations like this you could reset but assign your talent points back. Ps, i wouldnt say bigger investment, my +15 lvl 65 weapon in elsword has about 6 dollars in actual money invested in it, and hours trying to reinforce it to that level without it breaking, most mmos have a similar system.

  • Vendors should never sell gear/weapons better than RNGesus gives out though. That is a big complaint with the player funded hotpatch that Bungie has called a DLC.

Yes they should, because you are referring to a raid that has been live since september 21st. Its a tier one raid, and also like ive been telling other people, it probably wasnt intended for raid to be the only way to max, if not they realized it was a bad idea, hence the ib armor, and now they have light 33 gear, but the new raid drops light 36 stuff. So yeah its better gear than vog but its not like vog doesnt drop anything of use aside from raid primaries which are still useful regardless of lesser damage. What they also tried to do was make it so that not everyone looks the same, another huge complaint everyone had. And now with new good gear the vendors are selling you can look different. Just because a raid is a raid doesnt mean when the game progresses, things should adhere to all raids, if thats the case lets keep the max level 30, just add raids. You brought this on yourselves, you and anyone else who has obviously never played much of an mmo put too much pride in being 30, even bashing people with your elitest attitudes of being a 30 from raid gear, when you knew it wasnt going to be max forever. At least most mmo players did and thats why im not mad at the update nor the vendors, the only thing im mad about is what they did to people who didnt buy the dlc, and replacing gear instead of just adding.
