The game isn't just the raid.
Some people want to play PVP. Others like PvE but don't want to raid. They forfeit the right to get to the level cap. They should not have to forfeit all progression in the game because 20% of players who raid just want to feel special a while longer.

Agreed they need a separate way to get to the level cap than just the raid

Its not about feeling special, I am not even level 30. You clearly did not get my point and I am pretty sure more than 20% play the raid. I am a casual too and play the raid, I only play one char and share my acc.

Edited by TheArtist: 12/9/2014 9:22:55 PMPlaystation keeps a running tab on what percent of players manage to unlock which achievements. As of two weeks ago, the "complete a raid" trophy had only been unlocked about about 23% of PS4 Destiny players. So this is not about being "casual" or "hardcore". Its about the fact that Destiny is a game that is designed to be played and enjoyed a lot of different ways....and not just the way that you or I prefer to play it. The simple fact is that MORE people who play this game DON"T (or feel that they CAN"T) do the raid. than there are who do it on any sort of regular basis. Those who don't raid regularly have already forfeited their chance to be at whatever the level cap is at any given time. But to make ALL progression in the game past level 29 contingent upon doing the raid is a good way to kill this game. Because if you think the complaining about being "forced" to play the Crucible just to get a particular piece of gear (by earning marks or completing a bounty) is shrill.... ...you ain't heard nuthin' yet, compared to the outcry that will erupt the moment you make all progression in the game contigent on raiding. The result will register on the Richter Scale.

To make it clear: I never said reduce all progression of light to the raid. Crucible events would still appear and deliver Crucible players higher light level gear. This particular posts deals with the raid.

I think you need to go back and re-read your intial post. Because that was EXACTLY what you said...even if that wasn't what you meant. You made no exception for PvP players...and you made it clear that all roads past level 30 to the new vendor gear had to lead through the VoG raid. A part of the game that a good 70% of the fanbase of the game made it clear that they either were not interested in...or felt they were not able to fit into their ability/time frame to play the game. Bottomline. Only LEVEL CAP requires raiding. Level 30 ---as of today---is no longer the level cap. So forcing players who don't want to be raiders to do the VoG in order get beyond level 29 is simply neither reasonalble nor fair.

Changed it.

Fair enough.
