I'm thinking more along the lines of Gears of War 2 Horde mode. They did it the best
No gimmicks. No lame cap points. No lame challenges. No nothing.
Just your guns and 50 waves of enemies that increase in difficulty.
GoW2 horde mode will make a man out of ya.

Dear god lmao. I had friends whose first foray into gears was with GoW 2. When they tried to melee Tickers I always laughed my ass off! XD

Lol i'd melee them too just to watch them fly across the map an explode.
