Bungie's really pushing for the "self moderation" and "invisible moderation" system, which I think many users will agree it just plain does not work... Or at least not preferred would be a better way to describe it.
I will admit that in some cases self moderation and invisible moderation can work, but I think users, at least the old ones, want to [i]see[/i] moderation at work.
They want to know that problems are being solved on the forums instead of just accepting Bungie's word that moderating is being done. It gives old users a sense that Bungie has control over the forums still and it's not the Wild West.
Me personally, I like seeing locked threads, who's been banned and for what. It shows users (especially those who don't read the CoC) what is and isn't acceptable.

Damn im really sad to see how this once great site has turned into a shit hole. I agree with everything you said. I like seeing the locks and the bans. I was on the receiving end of around 30 bans. But i shaped up and finally got my blue bar. I feel like bungie has become a soccer mom. Everyone wins not punishment all positive reenforcement. Thats crap doesnt work. yorkie

Sadly I never got the fabulous blue bar. I only made it to Heroic because I lurked a lot and posted a little. I was too afraid (and still am) of sounding stupid lol. Back on topic though. I get Bungie's arguments/reason for making the site as it is, it makes sense and sounds fair, but in practice it doesn't really work all that well (kind of like socialism or communism). People have to be committed to the self moderation program, and frankly I don't think many people want to put in that effort. Another major concern with the new site is trolls. There are obvious trolls that aren't taken care of because they don't break to CoC. Correct me if I'm wrong, but on the old site, as far as I remember, they were taken care of regardless.

Depending on what they did in the old site. Either by a warning or a ban depending. But i think the old site had a good risk snd reward system and was perfect. The colors and titles of the member bars the color of certain peoples text and avatar picture. That made the site special. Also the old site was so easy to move around with. I bragged on the site all the time. Now its a train wreck. Wish you wouldnt of refrained from posting. Its just the enet and just words. It doesnt mean anything if someone calls you a name. Just come up with something better to throw back at them. Lol and you can take your time at doing it lol. yorkie

The colors did make things stand out which was nice. I think their argument for getting rid of title bars was it created a sense of elitism, but then they turn around and add the year tenure which does the same thing.
