Destiny mythbusters covered this like two months ago, but kudos for finding it on your own.
Next try sitting down when running from axiom bolt. That one is hilarious. I keep forgetting to do that in pvp.

yes it works but only if you are (already) sitting down while it's swarming around you. You have to have quick reflexes
