If you watch the video "Developing the Dark Below" you'll see the new exotics with a base attack rating of 300 and a max rating of probably 331. I'm hoping that bungie will give you the ability to upgrade your exotics to the new max level but, I kinda doubt it. It's the MMO way to grind your but off to get the best gear, only to have the developer release new and improved better gear.... for you to grind your but off for.

  • It's the old carrot and stick routine.

  • Then why not have a way to grind old weapons up? special raid only mats that can raise a weapons attack X amount. I've played a few MMO's, normally when you get to the next tier of equipment, multiple aspects of the weapons change. New ways to min-max them, new coloums of stats, often get more or stronger enchantments or upgrade slots on a given weapon... VoG Raid weapons and Crota Raid weapons, pre and post expansion exotics..... the only difference between them is a single value. And if pitted against eachother in the Crucible, they'll (to the best of Bungie's ability) preform equally anyway, why not continue this trend in PVE? it only be a benefit to the players, and wouldn't by any means screw over the games design. It's not like asking for Common, uncommon, or rare weapons to be comparable, those even in the crucible despite the raw stats being... at best equal, they strictly fall behind in terms of customization and perks. and really only matter before level 20. It won't take away from their precious grind feast to add more venues for customization.

  • I wish you could regrind to keep all your exotics relevant. I just have little faith that bungie will make is so. I will say one thing though, according to http://planetdestiny.com/destinys-expansion-exotics/ they are only going to release 4 exotics that are going to be 331 so, I would say that current weapons will continue to be viable, just not as much as they used to be. In my opinion, I think it's foolish for them to increase the power level at all. They are introducing the MMO power creep that we are familar with that slowly errodes older existing weapons.
