• It's JJ Abrams, so it probably will.

 • Whoa whoa whoa. The recent Star Trek films were not bad at all. I think we should give JJ a chance. It's not like he can do any worse than the three prequel films.

 •
The recent Star Trek films were not bad at all.
The first one was okay. Nothing special, but okay. But Star Trek Into Darkness was awful.

 • I always saw it as an analogy for the US's initial support of of Bin-Laden's resistance group during the Soviet occupation, which then turned around and bit us in the ass. In the movie, the Federation has nothing to do with Khan's terrorist attack, Khan attacks the Federation out of retaliation for screwing him over, which is at least in part why Bin-Laden attacked the U.S. (with the training and the like we gave him against the Soviets no less, just like Khan). Aide from all the politics the movie may or may not have had, it just can't be denied that the new Star Trek movies are fantastic Star Wars movies in terms of pacing, direction, tone, action and so on.

 • You missed quite a bit of that movie, apparently. Khan does all that at the behest of the admiral in exchange for his crew; it's just that the admiral was double-crossing him. It was all a deliberate false flag attack. And it just so happens that the film's writer, Robert Orci, is a truther nut.

 • Star Trek Into Darkness was awful. It was a mockery of the Star Trek name.
