My issue with many of the reviews is they used established genres as the standard and railed on it for not living up to both completely. Destiny is an amalgam of genres.

  • This is a good point! And Bungie definitely tried to stay away from the term MMO, ppl ended up adapting it anyway. At face value it borrows so heavily from MMO designs its easy to slip into seeing it as one. I am certainly guilty of that. Destiny falls way short of MMOs in terms of depth and to do's. And that would be 'okay' but if you go back and watch vidocs and press showings, the game isnt even what they thought it would be a year ago. It seems like (and this is just my opinion) that Destiny couldnt really decide what it wanted to be, like it never really had a cohesive vision, or that vision changed very late in the development cycle. Now Destiny, ironically, just feels like it is lost in its purpose... lol.
