electric. my first guitar. feels much better than trying to learn acoustic in music class. no amp yet, waiting on rocksmith to teach me to play before buying one.
-
I strongly, strongly recommend against using rocksmith for very long. I can't even begin to tell you how much a teacher helps.
-
just for form/technique/ theory reasons, right? rocksmith can teach you some basics, right? its a lot cheaper than trying to find a teacher and that hassle.
-
Yes it will teach you the basics but it will not teach you how to avoid bad habits and it doesn't tell you when you are forming bad habits. There's only so much that it will do for you.
-
Nice. I play a little bass, but want to learn how to play acoustic. I'll probably take a class in college. Do you have any prior knowledge of how to play guitar at all, or is this new for you? Do you have any knowledge of music theory?
-
about 30 minutes total of just f**ing around in a forced music class playing with an acoustic that sucked. i'm new but youtube and the internet is a great resource. not really. it has to do with sheet music. i know that much.
-
The Internet is a great resource, but I find it doesn't beat a real teacher.
-
i'm not trying to be in a band though... wanna play some zepplin, sabbath, etc.
-
Nice, I love black sabbath

dun dun dundundun da wah wanananah. eventually i maybe get to megadeth/metalica/ machinehead tier playing, but likely not since track layering makes insane not physically possible music nowadays. ex:the blackening used 3 different lead 7 string guitars on 96 tracks overlayed, performed with 7 different guitars including an acoustalectric.

That's not all. Basic chord structures, harmonies, rhythms, etc. It's more complicated than you might think, especially if you try writing or just playing by ear. If you don't, however, you should be fine. Still, the knowledge will be useful, since you would know exactly what you are doing.
