In terms of crucible, does this apply for the different game modes in crucible. For example, I don't play a lot of salvage, skirmish, and rumble, does that mean I have a higher chance of dropping better loot from playing that game mode?

I dont think that makes a difference. We havent noticed a difference anyway.
