I think it's because people just don't talk in this game for some reason. Unless it's a raid I haven't heard a word out of people. Strikes? Nope. Try to message someone with a cool name and say hi? They melee you in the face a few times and continue on their way. I always have my Sony gold headset on and just end up talking to myself all day.
Imo, not a very talkative friendly community.

I think it's because talking has been made to be so cumbersome. On XBL, I hate having to go out to my menu to type a message. I think at least on XBL, the One's difficulty in communications the first few months of launch got people out of hte talkative habit. Hopefully we can ease back into it.
