Because it causes us happiness, with happiness being a release of dopamine into our brains.
If you're looking for purpose in life then there is no purpose beyond what we make for ourselves.
Want to push the boundaries of human knowledge. That's your purpose. Want to care for those who can't care for themselves. That's your purpose. Want to give into carnal desires and simply pursue what makes you happy at the moment? That's your purpose.

Our purpose is simply [i]here[/i], and [i]now[/i]. It's whatever we make of it, but why do we do what we do? Sure, it's "How our brains work.", but why don't we do the complete opposite? Why isn't being happy bad, and being angry good? I just ponder these things, and over think sometimes.
