I see a lot of complaining... This is a RPG MMO that hasn't been out for even six months. OF COURSE there will be problems. The DLCs will kick in and let you continue further into gameplay and story. It's all about being patient. Eventually, all the things that were promised in trailers and Q&A will be there. This game meant to ride on into the next 10 years. All you have to do is wait.

This is NOT AN MMO!!! Retard
-
Dude. Relax. That's somebody's kid you freaking maniac.
-
OMG I used caps which makes me a maniac.... This place is full of the mentally challenged... Fk off
-
Lol. "Don't like our crap story? That's ok. In a few months you can give us more money for a tiny amount more of said crap story" Shit yea! Sign me up!
-blam!- that
-
Have you researched why there's such little detailed plot? Or have you even sat down and enjoyed an actual mmorpg that releases content in a monthly/annual fashion?
-
This isn't an MMO that comes out with reliable monthly content. There's no new content, no free content patches, just overpriced DLC. This game also has a lack of story. Why? I don't know, and I don't care. All I know is I got ripped out of $80. I don't know why I bother. You'll just come back with a defense of "Xbox got Halo deal with it fgt" or "According to my research, you are wrong and here's a 7 page essay on why"

Edited by ll D34TH ll: 11/18/2014 4:45:02 AMNah bro. I have a life. But....
I don't think destiny qualifies as "epic Lord of the Rings like storytelling"
As the case implies.
-
Yes and no. Yes the Destiny franchise will continue for 10 years. No Destiny, as in the game in your disc drive, will not. That game has a max lifespan of a couple years at best. Thus telling us that we need to buy DLC to finish the story is absurd. This should have been a complete story, with a satisfying end. Instead we got a half made game that's coming apart at the seams. DLC is meant to expand and enrich. Not replace and finish stories that should have been in at launch.
-
Just like the previous guy... You don't play much mmorpg? Games like these ALWAYS come in with an incomplete story. That's how it hooks followers who are waiting for more. If you ever played PC mmorpg, they start with a low set cap with a portion of a story and open world available to you. As the months or years go by, they'll add more for your enjoyment. All you have to do is wait. It's not Bungie's fault that blasted through the current gameplay.
-
I've played MMO's before. That's besides the point. Destiny is not an MMO. It is, in Bungies own words, a shared world shooter. A game with social elements that, at its core, is a Bungie shooter. What characterizes a Bungie shooter you ask? Solid game mechanics and an interesting story with meaningful characters. Destiny has neither. I think of the two of us you are the one who needs to rethink this game. Besides, it may have been a while since I've gotten really into an MMO, but I recall them having a brief story not one with more plot holes than actual plot. There is a difference between setting up a world, which MMO launches do, and the choppy inconsistent 'story' of Destiny. I already own the so called expansion pass for Destiny since it came with my limited edition copy of the game. I will not however pay for any more till Bungie relearns from their past games and develops a game worth spending money on. Because at half the cost of a full retail game Destiny's "expansion pass" has far less than half of the already meager content in Destiny proper.
-
If you think the game mechanics of Destiny are poor then you really don't know what you're talking about. Across the board, even the deepest haters praise the shooting and general feel of the game play. It's a beautifully coded game with more under the hood then you could ever hope to understand.
-
Some of the basic shooting is good. But it is nowhere near up to snuff. The recoil is is simplified making the guns less interesting to handle. The hit detection is atrocious at best and the weapon variety and roles are so poorly defined that for all intents and purposes you can use anything anywhere. The same goes for the classes, besides the supers there is no real reason to use one over another. Destiny on its own would make a decent game, but from Bungie as a supposed AAA tittle it simply does not stack up. I'm not claiming the series is hopeless, but what I am saying is that as the first game in a supposed 10 year plan Bungie really dropped the ball.
-
It seems like you're only complaining about the story... Rather than gameplay and "mechanics". Have you bothered to read up on what happened to the original writer? Or why Bungie sold the game before storyline for each character and faction was complete? Research it. There is a reason for the holes. In exchange for these holes, the lore through grimiore was put up. Don't take my word for it. Go out there and actually read up on your only problem with the game. Maybe if you weren't so close minded and quick to jump conclusions, you'll enjoy the game and be more understanding.
-
"There is a reason for these holes." Is that an excuse? That sounds like an excuse. This a FINISHED game, meaning there should not be nearly as many plot holes. If something happened to the writer, delay release of the game. Don't release this black hole of plot. Bungie had their chance with this game. Destiny II will not be as successful, that I can say with certainty.
-
You didn't read everything... Go research why the story was rush before jumping in. Most of you base on what you see rather than reading up on what's going on
-
I did research. Again, doesn't really make an excuse for the game.
-
My problem is not solely with the story. That is a massive issue, and one that cannot be made right with the stuff on Bungie.net either. That however is not the only problem. With poorly a instituted and even worse balanced power system, boring and mostly pointless upgrade trees, and the worse Bungie multiplayer I've every played. This game overall was so poorly developed I still can not believe it came out of Bungie's studio. I'm not nearly as close minded as you seem to believe. I am merely looking at the game objectively, while comparing it to past Bungie works. It does not do justice to the studio I used to know. From where I'm standing it looks like you ran out of ways to defend the game and just want to label me as narrow minded in order to write off my criticism. Frankly as far as I'm concerned Destiny is broken, and it cannot be fixed. At least not easily. At this point there isn't really any reason to bother trying to fix it anyways. I do however have a small amount of hope for Destiny 2. Defending Destiny blindly is a disservice to the series. Its alright to like the game and to enjoy playing it, but ignoring its faults will cripple the ability for the series to grow.
-
Thank you for putting it all into words that I could not. For both comments.
-
My thanks for the recognition. I do try, it's not like I'm here solely to pick a fight. I just try to give voice to critical reason when others cannot or will not. Blindly accepting or damning this game is not good, I feel we need to objectively look at it for what it is so that Destiny as a series may grow and improve.

Edited by RangerVeare: 11/17/2014 8:07:09 PMExactly.. "The DLC's will kick in". You basically just said it yourself. So basically what your telling me is i have to be patient to wait for more missions that should've already been implemented in the game and then i have to pay for it?? Do you not feel like their adding DLC right off the bat just to compensate what they didn't include? Again, I have no hard evidence but at the same time the evidence is seems to be written everywhere. People say "Well if you don't like the game then tough luck and don't play it." I really want to enjoy playing this game. That's what it's all about. I did enjoy it until I realized that what I thought I was paying for was incomplete and what they advertised a year before wasn't true. If you really dive into the the trailers you can pick out stuff they said were going to implement isn't there. It might be the little things but all of it matters and every bit of it counts as false advertisement and even if its legally not something they have to fix its still lies that they told us.
-
You've never actually played a game that requires you to wait for DLC, right?
-
If you call playing battlefield 3 and 4 waiting and buying every single one than yes, I have waited for DLC.
-
I'm talking more along the lines of WoW, Guild Wars, Aika, Blade Soul, etc.
-
Get em cat, lol. Ever waited a year for a dlc? Mmo's are notorious for announcing dlc content and then making you wait for it to be ready man. Waiting for a map on battletards 3 and 4 isn't the same. Be patient or bail, we will play on.
-
No I don't care to play those types of RPG's and MMO's. I agree and I understand what you mean. Both of you. But that doesn't neglect the fact that Bungie has made a port choice of what they did. I'm really not even talking about the DLC taking forever or being a short ways away. If you read the top and or watched the video that I had linked you would know I'm not just talking about the DLC. Please educate yourself before replying. And I'm in no way being rude or wanting to start arguments. Now about you playing on. Yes, I agree I will be playing on in the world of destiny because I think it might take a turn for the better in days to come. But I also want them to realize their mistakes and correct them. I also want answers as well. Both are not a lot it ask for in my opinions.
