Tldr; just want to throw my piece in.
There are people who game the current lockout with multiple toons of the same class. I'm sure this is mentioned.
These people, if they aren't doing the delete and reroll, are finishing the raid 6 times a week. Bungie's intended vision was 2x a week, if even that since Deej keeps talking about VoG like it should be a campaign only a 3 stared General could lead a team of machine like navy seals though. I digress.
If we look at those 6x a week players, they are essentially simulating MONTHS of VoG gameplay in weeks. Some of these people aren't getting 30. Most of them didn't get 30 in the number of plays it would have taken until the darkbelow would have dropped.
Tldr: months of VoG are simulated in weeks worth of play and the verdict is, legitimate gameplay, no one would be 30 before dlc

Played a MMO with gear based levels that was far worse than this (as in it took well over a month to get the mats to attempt to synth your armor which could fail setting you back to the start. The way they made you NOT skip steps was you kept upgrading the same armor instead of replacing it. It was horrible. Lately, after running a few back to back raids on multiple characters and getting shards I don't need and chatterwhites I have no room to store, I've been considering going back to the MMO so I can feel like I'm accomplishing a goal again.

Edited by Hektik: 11/17/2014 11:18:01 PMSet other mmos aside. What I posted was specifically about Destiny. Other mmos expansions weren't out 3 months after release. Other mmos your guild was farming the raid for alts 2 months before the expansion, shitty guilds... This game doesn't even allow you to get level cap before the expansion drops.

LOL you missed my point entirely, I was merely relating experience from another game that was so soul crushingly tedious it literally killed the game within months. (player base dropped over 75% in 8, followed by going offline) All because of gear based leveling. As bad as that game was, it still felt more productive than the current setup for Destiny.
