It's definitely more yay than nay, or at least the sequel seems to be.

it seems to vary from person to person in terms of opinion.

It's overrated to me, but it definitely seems to have a good hold on keeping the player tense.

yep. i find it hard to NOT lower the computer screen when one of them is in the hall. im sure once people figure out the game mechanics and proper strategies for dealing with the individual robots the game will turn into a game of strategy and jumpscare avoidance, THEN it will become less scary. unless the dev decided to implement a code of some sort that jumpscared the user if they play, then leave midgame in the middle of night. like literally. if you played at 11:00 then left, you would get jumpscared for leaving midgame. and it would only be stopped if you returned to the menu or shut down or restarted the computer. like you could leave, start watching youtube, then the mangle would drop down out of nowhere, and scare the shit out of you. kind of like that other horror game. the one that whispered your name after 10:00pm...

If you watch markiplier play the first one it becomes all strategy, he tries to play the extra night at maximum difficulty, and he played the game like clockwork rather than a suspense horror. Until you get to that point game definitely succeeds at suspense

indeed. the second does it quite well. leaving you waiting for the character to move so you can progress. but you need to put yourself in danger to see. for instance say freddy was in the hall. i just checked with the light and put the mask on, after about five seconds i need to see if hes gone, so i take the mask off and check, yep hes still there. gotta mask on again...ok now off, lets check. ok gotta mask again, hall, oh hes still there...then it becomes this whole "if i leave this on, and wait for the audio cue (which for walking is freaking non existent save for foxy banging his hook on the wall) im gonna let the box wind down, if i wind it, hes gonna sneak in and ill die." it gives you paranoia randomly...speaking of paranoia, you know what sucks? when your brain dicks around and you do something like, oh i dont know, walk down a dark hallway and you immediately hear "My Grandfathers Clock" play in your head... (thats the tune of the marionette...)

.... shit man its 11 at night don't do thus to me.
