Legendary and exotic armor output from any engram is generated for a random class. This is noted in the tooltip of any engram capable of producing these tiers of armor.
You can put the item in the vault for an alt, or break it down for shards.

Giving an opposite class armor to one who works for armor of their own class is counter productive for any user that doesn't have time to level up every class. Need to have a better solution for this then random class choices.

No its not really like most of them at all lol. MOST of them would be related to your class unless its a completely random drop during a quest / mission / dungeon / instance / raid etc. This system is VERY ODD and does not make you wanna play more, just pisses you off after grinding out all week to maybe play a 6 player raid only to have that thought shut down cause the gear you purchase ends up being for another class. ITS A GARBAGE SYSTEM

No I don't. A little different way of gaming but better then just your normal story line game.

I recommend holding onto any good pieces , everyone I know who said " I'll never play a xxxxx" now has one of each of those classes lol

I get you frustration I do but its not something that can be fixed because its not broken its just how most games like Destiny work

As I mentioned, another option is to dismantle for ascendant shards, which help your character out. Note that the drop rate takes the random class output ion account, so if that goes away, legendary engrams become even rarer! At least now you might be able to gear up an alt, or get some shards out of it :)

Just quite upsetting when I bought this on day one of release and this is my first legendary find and its not even for my class. :|

Just peeked at your gear, no legendary armor yet :(. Don't rely on engrams so much! Get a faction up to level 2 reputation and use marks to buy your purples. If you play crucible, keep that new monarchy bond on an get some new monarchy gear. If you would rather get vanguard marks, switch out the faction bond for a normal bond and get vanguard to rank 2 to buy that armor. You will be in full purple armor fast!
