hey man I see you have no posts. but I do want you to know that I also have Hughesnet HT1100 with a netgear 3700v3 router and at that exact same time I also could not play destiny. as you said I was also sent to tech support today and he remotely turned off web acceleration ( hope Hughes paid for yours like they did mine ) and I am now at error code banjo after TS fixed my upload speed and MTU. I will read your other steps as our situation is 99% similar and eliminate things and maybe one of us can find the solution. please keep in touch. or if you already have found the answer please let me know... saw this and wanted you to know at least one other player has the same issue :) also yes matchmaking would time out but we could play ( friend and I ). thank you for being so detailed... I'll be waiting for your reply

  • @xXTruGraveXx I apologize for the delay. I have been meaning to reply to your post. For an update, after I had posted this, I had been conducted some more research on the HT1100 and found this forum: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r28683451-Server-Hosting-Port-Forwarding-Proxy-HT1100- If you read through this forum, it might help clear some things up for you. Apparently, port forwarding is not an option on Generation 4 Hughes Net devices (AKA the HT1100 Modem). To be able to port forward is an additional monthly fee, but it is impossible with our given modem regardless. This is why, if any Bungie reps read my post, I made sure to point out Step (#8). The firewall inside the HT1100 is inaccessible to us, and while you can forward ports allllllllllllll day long on your router, it will do nothing for you whatsoever because of the HT1100. Unless I misunderstand the information (I don't believe I do), you can get past one firewall only to be stopped dead by another, only the 2nd one you can't bypass. We do not have simply one layer of NAT to deal with like most everyone else. As I said in my post, at one point Destiny Singleplayer WAS working for me, and it WAS working for YOU, as well. It STOPPED working one day, after I had made no alterations to ANYTHING, so perhaps the problem still lies on Bungie's end. Even still, however, port forwarding is not an option for us. My advice: if you read the last paragraph in the forum I gave you the link to, you will see the user mentions downgrading to a Generation 3 Hughes Net Device, such as the HT1000 modem. I have seen many posts where the HT1000 modem can be placed in "bridge mode", thereby disabling its internal firewall and transforming it into ONLY a modem. THEN port forwarding would be a possibility, and THEN maybe, just maybe, Destiny might start working. Hope this helps! Please keep me updated. And thank you for your consideration and kind words.

  • @ShiftyFriend9 I just now saw your comment from back in November. That is an interesting predicament. You use an HT1100 modem yet you can still play Call of Duty? Specifically, are you saying you are confused because you can play CoD's Multiplayer? If this is the case, I am surprised you can play CoD online with the HT1100. I would think the online play for you would lag far too much for the game to be playable. Again, if that is the case, you pose an interesting question. Recently, I have been very busy in school and have not spent time continuing my research on my Destiny situation. Perhaps there is some new information or solutions out now that more time has passed. I will tell you, there are many speculations and theories as to why Destiny has experienced such mass networking problems. I have read a variety of forums from people stating they understand the heart of the problem. One user this website posted a forum (maybe 2 months ago) stating that people with Netgear routers are having problems with Destiny because Bungie wrote code in their updates that is screwing things up within the Netgear routers. The user stated he knows this because he and some of his buddies cracked the codes in the update. IF this is true, that makes sense. I have also read, on Reddit, that If you cannot make the connection with the Destiny server within a certain amount of time (a very SHORT amount of time, perhaps shorter than that of Call of Duty or Halo), you fail to gain entrance into the game entirely since the entire game is online, even singleplayer. It seems to be a logical explanation from my limited point of view. Whatever the case, I am frustrated to say I still do not have all the answers. It is an undisputed fact that AT ONE POINT I COULD play singleplayer on Destiny with the HT1100, and now I cannot. I have not been able to understand this dilemma, and have instead devoted my time to simply trying to find a solution. I felt that I had come to a dead end, though, unless Bungie or someone else finally explains why singleplayer has mysteriously stopped working for us. It is so very frustrating. I wish I had another solution to offer you, but for the moment I do not. Your comment about Call of Duty is intriguing, though. Please respond and let me know if I was correct about you playing multiplayer. Perhaps we can still find a solution. Thanks for posting.

  • I'll ask about this when I call them. I will give that article a read as well. I understand that their internet service isn't ideal for gaming but it is what they advertise. I have tried their tech support and they did pay for it ( as I think they should have ) so as a company they are trying to meet my expectations and I do appreciate that. but their prices are high. and for high I do expect to use it how I have and intend to in the future. as far as the tech part of it. you are way more advanced than me in the matter and I will be following your progress as well as trying to make some of my own :) maybe one day we will be back on our guardians and out of this fiasco lmao. thanks for the reply and no worries about the delay :)
