i just shoot the shield with thorn it does no damage at first but the poison still takes effect and after like 3 sec he will stumble for lack of a better description and when he does his whole bodys open for a few sec so i just shoot them in the head that way

You can do dot with a throwing knife with fire damage as well.

nice didn't know it worked with a throwing knife. but i only play titan so my hunter knowledge is lacking.
