[quote]The base game is not subject to the free upgrade, since you have a physical version.

Personally, I am also disappointed that I don't get a free upgrade just because I didn't get a digital copy of the game. The argument that a physical copy cost more because i of the cost of manufacturing product and packaging is irrelevant because the digital copy cost the exact same amount. Also, the free digital upgrade was not widely publicized. Additionally the guys at Gamestop told me free upgrades were not available (go figure, they just wanna sell more copies). But when I bought Assassin's Creed 4 it came with a code for a free next-gen upgrade. I love this game and I'm more than willing to buy the expansion (glad it applies to PS3 and PS4) but I feel like the purchase of the PS3 version should allow us to download the PS4 version for free. I feel like I'm being penalized for buying the hardcopy.

Can I ask why? I purchased the exact same game as someone who purchased the digital copy. I just upgraded to an Xbox one, now I have to spend another 60+ on the game I already have? Why am I or anyone else for that matter that preferred having a disk over a digital copy at the time of the purchase exempt from a free upgrade? As a note I purchased a physical copy of the game not knowing about the free upgrade for digital purchases or knowing when I would get getting an Xbox one. Now I'm being told to play the same game on the new system I have to pay twice the price as someone who did a digital download.

Edited by Anidien: 11/5/2014 1:04:34 AMHonestly, you didn't buy the same game. You bought a physical disk, which cost money to procure and burn. The case it came in had a cost. The graphic leaflet cost money to print. The shrinkwrap has a cost. There is the cost of inventory to store it. Shipping for all components. Maintenance on machines used in the manufacturing process. Most importantly, labor to handle these parts and the overhead labor (I.e. Logistics). All of that is zero cost to the developer for a digital version, so they have more room to offer deals. What game offers a free next gen version? If I wanted Madden 25 for my xbox one last year, I had to buy it - even I I already had the 360 version! This is a really good deal, but yes it has it's limitations. That's only fair, there are business considerations.

It is the same game. I paid for the cost of all the added fees for the physical copy. As you said providing a digital version costs the company no added fees. I paid for the same exact game. If I lose a physical copy of a program disk as long as I have proof of purchase I can ask any program company to provide me with a download of that same program I dont have to pay for a new copy if I upgraded my PC. Its the same concept here. I upgraded my system the disk is unreadable in the new system there for I have an unusable copy of a program I purchased. Now in that same scenario if I got a computer program and then changed from a PC to a MAC I can understand having to purchase the program new, however, that is not the case here. Its from Xbox 360 to Xbox One, and asking me to spend 120.00 total to play the game. I can understand having to pay 10.00 to upgrade like they did with the games that came out just before the new systems did last year, but 60+ because I went with the newer system, same company is asinine .
