I don't try to win so that I'm awarded good loot. I just play as well as I can because I enjoy this game.
Playing just to earn loot is missing the point, in my eyes.

It's not the playing to earn loot. I love playing to win, but someone who puts no effort in getting rewarded is a major pie in the face. They aren't playing to win, yet they are rewarded...
-
It certainly is in Destiny, and I dont understand how anybody can not know this by now. Your score is your reward, thats it. And maybe some medals, but who looks at those.

Then why have a loot system at all? Why not enter into a random lottery every five minutes and a wheel spins round...3...2...1... Tadaaaa you get a rare cape.

I dont know, ask Bungie. They only thing I know is that we have a "personal lootstream". Maybe, just maybe your performance affects your overall chance of getting something. But is is independent of how others perform and are rewarded. So while it sucks to see someone get a Legendary for doing nothing, it is not like you are pulling the loot from the same bag and you could have gotten it instead.
-
I'm not saying i should have it instead. My argument is that someone who doesn't contribute should not get a share of the reward.
-
They get a reward, but no a share of the reward, if you get the difference. It may seem unfair, but as far was we know, it doesn't in any way impact your own reward. And I am not saying its good or bad, just that it apparently is working as intended.
