The fact that you're getting disconnected from live as well makes it seem like it's a problem with either your modem/router/ethernet or your ISP. if you've already checked with your ISP, check your modem or router. Do any of your other devices lose their connection?

Its only destiny. I could literally do anything else and it will work. The interesting thing is that once I dashboard I instantly get reconnected.
-
Not sure then, I've honestly never had something like that happen to me before. I wish I could do more to help, but I agree that it sounds like a destiny issue.
-
Edited by ShadGhost: 10/27/2014 9:00:06 AMIts okay. All I really need is some security from Bungie that they know the issue, and are working on it. Iv looked all over, tried everything to fix it, and had to deal with Microsoft hold music for hours. Just to find out whats going on. If I cant get Destiny to work, ill probably hide in a box and cry. And no im not 5.. Im just minorly unstable.
-
Bungie have officially announced that the problem is fixed and anyone still experiencing problems is a liar. I however am sympathetic to your plight and if you don't mind may I ask if you frequently torrent?
-
Nah, Im not a pirate. Though id like to know what that has to do with my situation.
-
Destiny uses the same ports as torrenting services and certain video streams which will interrupt gameplay with the centipede and caterpillar errors until you turn off the torrent/stream.
-
Well I hate to disapoint you. But Your probably not as well informed as you think. I just hoped on and played the Sword of Crota mission, and I got kicked out within five minutes of playing. Besides that, I dont see bungie running a game on the same services as torrenting, considering pirating is illegal.
-
I hate to disappoint you but I didn't say that was the only cause for those two error codes. Only that it is a cause. Also you might want to read up on your law. As a basic example any movie that has been out for more than 2 years without having its copyright license reinstated is perfectly legal to torrent. Strictly speaking it was never illegal within those two years, the law (and by that I mean any governments law enforcement agencies) would never take any direct action against you for having torrented the movie unless the owners of said copyright first issued a cease and desist order and you failed to comply as, per copy right law, it is the copyright owners responsibility to protect their own property. But hey you're probably stupid enough to believe that using a video or dvd recorder is legal. Wrong, whatever channel you're watching a show/movie on had to pay for the right to air it. You are a passive observer and have not paid for the right to record it. Likewise if you bothered to read the licenses and fine print on any video/dvd you bought you'd see it clearly states that as the sole purchaser of that copy you and only you are allowed to watch it. You may not allow friends or family to watch it with you nor can you lend it to anyone and you will receive additional fines if you are caught profiting from allowing others to view it. So yeah some pirated material is illegal. But there's a far greater quantity of perfectly legal material out there especially in terms of freeware and non profit or home made (public) content.
-
Well im soooo sorry I didnt read up on pirating/torrenting laws. I dont use them so like I care. And aswell as that, I put this post here to get help from bungie, not to get yelled at by some kids about what torrenting is. Im stressed as it is with this server bullshit, I dont need you guys ganging up on my because I dont read up on torrenting.
-
I wasn't ganging up on you, I was offering some perfectly sound advice on how to fix a possible cause for the error you are encountering. I'm sorry the fix wont work for you as it has for thousands of others.
-
Okay, first of all torrenting does not equal piracy. Torrents are just shared files. Secondly it's not a "pirating service" to use certain ports on a router. They're there for networking reasons to make information sharing as efficient and effective as possible. If that's what bungie had to do,, it's what they did. It's not uncommon for games to need certain ports open and forwarded, but that doesn't make them doing something illegal.
-
Thank you, I did mention free ware, non profit and home made (public) files as examples. But you've explained that better than I was able to. For the record I don't promote theft or infringement of copyright policy.
-
Here's how to fix your issue; I had the same problem. You have to go to your router and disable UPNP, open ports 53 and there's 2 others that's available on Bungie support portion of the site. Also go to the settings on your Xbox then network and go to advance settings and change you dhcp to manual/static. Before you do so note the IP address that is automatically entered along with the subnet and DNS and gateway ip. You'll want to type those in after you select manual/static. Doing so prevents that IP address to be assign to another device in your network. This fix the caterpillar, marionberry and viper error code issues.
-
Might have fixed it for you. Not for me. But hey maybe Mr. Grumpy-pants can benefit from your advice. Cheers :D
-
Your router could be assigning your Xbox ip to another device. Booting the console off the network. Also call your ISP and see if they can bump up your upload speed to at least 3-5mb
-
No and I'm not on x-box. It's not doing that to my PS4 either. Also 3-5mb/s is pathetic. All 5 of us in my flat can get around 40mb/s on our PS4s simultaneously.
-
40mb is your download speed. I'm talking about upload speeds. ISP always set higher download speeds and usually a meg or two for uploading which most ppl are fine with. For gaming or media purposes when you increase your upload speeds you get better performance. My download speed is 100mps and my upload is 15mps but I have a business Internet account for my server. Usually you can call your ISP and you can request them to increase your upload speeds for free
-
8mb/s upload speed each simultaneously.
-
8mbs that's not bad but if you 2 ppl in the same household playing you might need to still have it bumped up to 10-15mbps or if your router has a 5G connection use that cause it's designed for high demand resources like video and its dedicated for that
-
each you god damn retard not shared between each other. and no being higher than that is completely unnecessary. look you were already too stupid to talk to the right person and I've humored you until now but I'm drawing the line. go back to school and learn before you have any more of these conversations.
-
Ah you totally did, after refreshing the thread your posts all showed up with the explanations. Slow companion app strikes again!
