Who has destroyed enemy dropships?
I heard from one of my online friends that he and 5 others manged to take one down and got some good rewards from it. I am wondering how many others have done this and if you can remember, How did you do it, and what rewards did you get out of it?
For the record, I am skeptical myself, that is why I posted it. I want to see if anyone else has done it. Having said that, with just me, that friend and one other we got the dropship down enough that the engine cover blew off and the engine was on fire. (we all blasted rockets at it.)

They can't, to many pixels for the game to handle. If you kill a group of cursed with icebreaker then the game lags cause of the explosions. So a dropship explosion would probably crash the game or something

9 RepliesYes, but only with a 12 man team on mercury in the beta. We all had vex mythoclast fully upgraded. It dropped an exotic engram for 2 of us. The others got 2-3 legendary drops. After we destroyed this bad mama jama, we jumped on our sparrows and raced back to the tower, because it's on earth and there is a giant city underneath it so we could do that. So we get back to the tower, head to the cryptarch and everyone got what they wanted. [spoiler]still a better story than today's destiny. Nightfall and raid completed. Received many ascendant shards[/spoiler]

You can take out their rockets, but not the ship itself. Your friends are -blam!-ing with you.

13 RepliesI've never seen one taken down, but I saw a guy do a cool trick with one that so far I haven't been able to duplicate. It was at Archer's Line on the moon during a Defend the Warsat public event. When a Fallen drop ship came, he fired a rocket at it and it pretty much crapped ammo. He hit 2 of the ships and between them there were at least 50 heavy ammo cartridges dropped, along with special and primaries. I've tried to duplicate it, but no luck. There must be a certain place you have to hit it. If anyone knows about this please reply.

3 RepliesI was able to only during beta on the moon on the first mission it did drop an engram. Havent been able to drop one since it started

Not sure about total destruction but you can destroy the canons on all drop ships.

You can't take them down people think it was in the original game that you could bring them down but they removed it because it caused frame rate lag... You can however take Down their turrets

6 RepliesFirearm of 3 lvl 29 and 3 lvl 30s. We all spammed rockets and supers and didn't even scratch the thing. Tried on Venus.

4 RepliesI took one down. Press up, down, left, right, start, and then select. Rewards you with a legendary armor set that isn't for your class and can't be broken into ascendant shards.

2 RepliesOn one of the Mars missions (i think the garden spire or whatever it's called) if you kill the last boss fast enough the two drop ships will glitch out and hang out till you finish the mission. Test it out there. I havent been able to but I also didn't try for very long at all. I do know you CAN destroy the turrets tho

At most, I've shot pieces off of various ships, usually the guns firing at me but nothing past that. Just for funzzies.

during the winters run strike on venus, during the boss fight with the archon priest, me and another guy each shot our golden guns at a fallen skiff(dropship) and used our tripmines. seemed to have no effect watsoever. also ive shot the cabal dropship that shows up in the mars strike after u beat the first phalanx lieutenant with an interceptor many times and never noticed an effect, or damage numbers for that matter.

i don't know exactly if they can be destroyed but a lot of fire-power at multiple angles at each ships weak points and it seems to do something

5 RepliesNot possible. Destroying the turrets is one thing but the amount of firepower required to bring down something that big and heavily armored is more then a Guardian can carry.
