Well she's an artist who is obviously incapable of traveling beyond the city, so where can she draw inspiration for her paintings? By asking you to scan locations, transmit the images to her, so then she has an idea of the outside worlds, so then she can paint/draw/whatever them.

If she were asking me to scan things like scenery or signs remaining from the Golden Age, then sure I could buy that. But she wants scans of alien tech and equipment, which doesn't seem to be anything she could draw inspiration from...
