What console are you referring to?
If it's 360, you'll have to find the disc installed game file and delete it. The digital version has it's own 'file'.
If you mean on xbox one there's no difference between files. The game is mostly online so after installing the game onto your hard drive, the only thing the disc is good for is verifying you own the game.

IM cleaning house ob the 360 where the game is sounding like 7.8 for the online and was at least shown as 5 on my first disk install so I'm exlecting theres something I can delete since I'm not planning to use a disk any more.

If you bought the digital edition then you can delete the disc install file. The digital edition will have it's own version when you download it.

It doesn't specificly say disc install it says content pack 1-4, a file thay says destiny, and a bunch of my preorder stuff. I didn't use xboxes disc install option. On first run destiny did that on its own.

Then you don't need to delete anything
