because it was that way before, and is also the way for other mmo's. because other mmo's are big worlds to start with and Destiny has not much content (released). because for gamers, getting a whole game is better than being tricked into taking part of a minimum viable product. it keeps getting worse. you used to be able to buy all the dlc for one price. you now buy a "season pass". you get a little more extra content, but now you're paying more each "season", whatever that means. how much longer until there are exotics to buy separayely? then comes all kinds of iap. then there will be super-exotics exclusively through iap. it didn't used to be this way. bungie can make money without whoring out their name and legacy.

These MMO's you speak of. Do they have a subscription fee? Or any other way of getting an income? Destiny needs to survive just on that initual purchase/DLC purchase. I won't mind getting it for free, but I just don't even dare to ask. Even though I feel a void inside of me, longing for more story (more of the originally intended one though).

destiny is selling subscriptions for sony and ms.

no, Sony and Microsoft are selling subscriptions for Xbox Live and Playstation Plus. these are not exclusive subscriptions for Destiny, but rather provide additional features for thousands upon thousands of other games

I'm sorry. I should slow down a bit. if a person wants to play destiny in multiplayer, which is the majority of the game, they need to subscribe to playstation plus or xbox live. some people have the subscription strictly for destiny. some people have purchased a console specifically for Destiny. a subscription is added for these people as well. the version of Destiny is different for each console. Activision has content exclusive to playstation. if you think these things arent accounted for, I understand why you weren't able to follow the logic. again, sorry.
