Your friends have migrated characters from 360 to PS4? I highly doubt it.

I do have friends that play xbox -blam!- tard. And yea I've had someone xfer from 3 to 4 and 2 more from 360 to xbone.

Because it's linked with your account. When you go on next gen you have the same account switching from Microsoft to sony you need a new account it's common sense

The console accounts are linked with your bungie.net account not the other way around. Same with social club.

Um yes it does. Your character information is on bungie.net servers. Not PSN, or Xbox Live.

And the bungie servers are specific for both Microsoft and Sony

Wouldn't matter, essentially you would log into a different server with your characters metadata.

Why would it matter? The destiny app is probably hosted on servers of its own using the exact same metadata from bungie.net. I'm an information engineer, I know how this works.

It's silly because it's so stupid. It's something we should have, it's something bungie intended on having and why don't we have it? It's not rocket science either, you don't have to be so condescending about the whole thing.

Actually for bungie to get your info you have to link your account to them. When you register on tier site that's why it asks for your psn xbox id

It also allows you to retrieve your character data on other devices I.e. Destiny app. So why can't I retrieve my characters on all Platforms?

Because it's not your true character data, simply information from your gamer account sent to the website. Ie why you cannot see your gaurdian in the app, on the gear that is in your inventory. Even tho they said they fixed that. Point is, your actual game data is installed on Sony/microsofts servers, and previous gen data differs from next gen data, so when you xfer you actually have to wait while that data is converted and xfered over from your pre gen saves which are located on a different server. The same thing cod and bf4 did.

Gear that's in your inventory most likely isn't being retrieved. I think this conversation is going nowhere.
