The encounter was exploited by too many people and it became a little game breaking when too many people had it. It's ok for a weapon to be a bit OP when it's supposed to be extremely hard to get, but that weapon became easy sauce so they had to do something quick since modifying game logic is riskier.

Edited by MonkeyD: 10/15/2014 3:07:29 PMThey could have limited the number of times the gun could be rewarded. Ie. We'll let 500 of this particular gun spawn as a reward for a raid, then you won't be able to get it. Now this other gun will spawn x times as a reward, and so on...

Or they could have nurfed in PvP and not pve. Why doesn't anyone get that!?!

Maybe that is harder to code with more risks than you think. There are some pretty talented people at Bungie, I would think that if it was a easily better solution, they would have done it.

Doesn't have to be easy. Don't take the lazy way. Its not just the changes they made. We will get over it and vault the mythoclast, whatever. But what's next? Which gun will they nurf next?
