I went communications in the Army and it gave me plenty of skills I've used when I got out. Biggest advice I can give you is think of something you'd enjoy doing in the civilian world and see if a branch has job(mos) for that. Plus once you get out you get your college paid for so yo can advance your knowledge at basically little cost.
Don't jump into it though. You join for a stupid reason and you'll dread life every day and make stupid decisions. You mess up big time in the military and that crap can follow you. Not as much as they make it seem but it can still be bad. Just really think about it before you just jump on the idea of it. And think about this.... If you had to..... Would you be willing to take another person's life and walk away like it was nothing?

Hey man I was in for 5 years 2/9 fox company 0331 cross trained 0311. Accomplished a lot of things got out got my degree in criminal justice. Now I'm a cop about to go state police you will have skills and experience a lot of people won't have. Putting it short I have friends that graduated college years before I did and still don't have a job. Been over seas 3 times 2 to Iraq 1 to afghan. Yes I've done things that are horrible but I did it none the less and came out a lot more mature than most men my age or some men that are older than me by years. It's respectable just thinking about serving. Semper Fi

Thank you for the reply and your service. I have been trying to think a lot about what I would want to do as a civilian but it's honestly the hardest part for me. I've looked into many different majors and I just can't see myself doing any of them.

I struggled and still am struggling with that issue. I enjoyed messing with electronics and computers so I went down that road. While it may not have been what I would have preferred to do but it what was available to me. Just make sure what you decide what you wanna do is something you won't wake up everyday dreading.
