Please look up the Game Informer when BL was announced and you tell me if that's the game they promised players when it shipped. FAR FAR FROM IT HAHAHA.

Ya so these type of games don't always live up to original hype but I'd take Destiny over what BL shipped as any day. Ya sure 5 BL games later and 30 dlc downloads later and they may have a winning formula for money but it's still far from what was "promised"

I don't get your point. It's a known fact that they simply changed the artstyle. At it's core, it really is diablo and mad max.

Edited by DogsEatChildren: 10/15/2014 11:32:49 AMSimply not true at all sir. Look down at my response to MrFuddyDuddy, they changed quite a lot prior to the games release other than the artstyle. They dumbed down the story to slapstick humor and did away with the weapon creation system which was what drew sooo many people to the game in the first place. Now they don't even try "there's a bazillion guns!". Ya ok BL, long as you buy and grind through 8 DLC to earn 10 different currencies to acquire weapons moderately worse than the ones you got from grinding an intolerable boss, which yaaay we can only fight once a day. Sorry for the rant lol just such a let down, that's why to me Destiny is already better than the BL franchise will ever be.

this is awesome. I didn't know this is what borderlands was supposed to even look like! all these fools on here talking about how they're gunna go back to last gen consoles, talking shit about how destiny lacks story and use borderlands as an example. LMAO you my friend. are the shit!

People fail to realize that all they did was change the art design so that the game looked and felt less dark, because of the massive amount of comedic undertone present in the game.

No they did not just change the art sir, they dumbed down the story to an eccentrically stupid gag story filled with vaudeville humor that really missed the mark of what they said the game would be all about. And what a let down the guns were, uhhh I mean just read the whole article, pretty wild. It's tough from that link but the issue is sitting right in front of me and wow did they under deliver

They went with the "comic-book and zany" approach, and it's apparent why when you look back at the other games that were being announced at that time: Fallout 3 and iD's RAGE. They knew there was going to be stiff competition in the "gritty post-apocalyptic FPS with RPG elements" (though RAGE wound up being delayed for years and years) so they went full retard instead of sticking to their guns.
