Gonna be the jerk that says you should play the game because its fun, not for a reward. Perhaps they should give rewards, but lesser ones. They should increase (not remove) the caps on marks, but at the same time provide many more options to spend them on, from new gear to faction shaders and ships down to ammo and blue gear for levelling. One of the apparent reasons for the sparse reward structure is to manage the relatively low diversity of gear. Managing the speed at which players can accumulate all the gear isn't a bad idea, except when it's because a really dedicated player could actually do it in a month.

  • I do like your idea of being able to spend marks/money on other things. I think the main issue I'm finding is I simply need accedant shards and the like. But the main driving force around Destiny when it comes to its rewards, is luck. There are a few ways to increase that "luck," and that's to do specific missions that have a greater chance to give you what you need i.e. Vault of Glass, Nightfall. I do realize that I can spend marks at the store to buy legendary gear to then get accedant shards by dismantling. But once I hit those caps on strikes and on the crucible, I'm back to where I started. So maybe if I could spend my money instead of marks on upgrade materials? That way I could keep on earning money and feel like I'm working towards a goal? But for now, as it stands, once I hit those caps, I just stop playing. I'm not going to go running around on a planet, hoping that an enemy will drop a purple engram. This is where I'd rather go over to Borderlands where I can keep on trying to find what I want, rather than knowing no matter what I try the game won't give me what I want until it resets at a specific time. But I do like your idea of having more options.
