I commend you for your attempt, but the truth is people will still argue and complain about everything in the game. There are essentially five kinds of people who post on game forums: a) People who are angry about some aspect of the game and want to complain or argue with someone about it. b) People who simply want to troll and start fights with the people from category a. c) People who want to brag about themselves, the exploits they've found or anything else that inflates their ego. d) People who know nothing about the game and either want help (who are sh*t on by the first three groups) or act like they know everything and point out common knowledge. e) People who actually enjoy the game, have some knowledge about it and want to talk to other like minded players in order to enjoy a sense of community. Group e is unfortunately the minority; no matter how hard you try to get the other groups to get along they will always be fighting. With that said I have to wonder if there is anything to fix at all, the question I pose is: Does it make a difference whether or not you get an item from one random drop or many? Strange coins can be farmed, but it is by no means consistent; getting 17 (or 23) strange coins can be just as much if not more random at times than receiving an exotic randomly by another means; making them no more or less difficult to obtain. So what is the real problem, Xür or our egos?

  • Well its easy if you do weekly heroic on lv 28 to get like 9 coins I think. If you do this with 3 different characters and put all the strange coins into one character you easily have enough, on top of random drops from strange coins and the possible 13 from nightfall. Yeah I get you can't make everybody happy but I think this proposal will at least lessen some hate or anger on this topic. Thanks for the input though, you made some fair points.

While this is true, not all players are going to run through the weekly on three characters; a lot of players don't even have a second character yet. My point is should a game mechanic be changed so that it potentially hurts the odds of some players getting specific items just so some other players can keep their egos intact? I don't think so, I honestly think the entire argument is a bit childish and Bungie should be focused on fixing some of the games actual problems.

  • Well I mean all my friends that farm created more characters to do this that's why I brought it up. People go the distance for exotics from xur. But this would be a minor thing to fix. And over time you'll get different exotics, the system they built destiny on is rng and xur breaks their system, the random ya know that's why I suggest this. But yeah there are still chances to get repeats. But that's also the style of rng ya know.

Xur is random though, he is actually far more random than any of the other vendors, in that his stock is all randomly selected from a much larger selection. This is why warlocks got stuck with three weeks of sunbreakers. I just think that it would be wrong to take away one group of people's ability to consistently get exotic weapons they want with their play style because a small group of people is vary vocal about their play style being the "legit" way to do it. What's worse is you know many of the people who complain about Xur turn around and spend their coins on his items as well. I just can't support that level of hypocrisy and entitlement ruining the experience of other players that either haven't been lucky or can't spend 10 hours a day trying to be lucky.

  • Well actually I don't normally snipe so he is excluding my playstyle the way I'm suggesting gives you 3 different weapon engrams so you can closely try to associate with how you like to play. As long as xur is this way people are gonna complain and be hypocrits to keep up I think.

What you propose actually makes it less random then, your solution defies your argument. The fact is, no matter what people are going to complain, argue and be hypocrites; that was my first point from the start. If the solution hurts people's chances at getting equipment they specifically want without fixing the problem how is it a solution?
