I was going to make a posy similar yo this but found that this has already been posted.
Yes, a dueling option would be great, not only for the fun of it, but especially gor theorycrafting and weapon/armor benchmarking. As of now, theres no real way for people to test their equipment or character specs before entering pvp. Though it might not be as important of an aspect in this game compared to regular gear/stat centric games, it would still be a handy feature.
Give us the tools to investigate how the engine works so we can start playing some crazy mathhammer! :D

Ya totally some real numbers might be a good thing. Check out the stat caps, check out min/max. i doubt they will do it until they get the balance right tho. It would just be another reason for people to bitch at this point because they can actually see how out of whack the numbers are.

I didn't even think of those benefits that would come from this. I only wanted this so I could 1v1 people to actually see who's better. With a game like this, you could actually have tournaments between people. The way this game works, pvp between two players can last quite a while, or end in less than 5 seconds. I love it.

Indeed. Though 1v1's in Destiny could turn out to be pretty anticlimatic, I see no reason not to. Borderlands have it tossed in and it's an easy and casual way to add something to do while waiting for stuff to happen when doing patrolls or exploring. I doubt such a feature would be that hard to implement either. It would add a good alternetive to a "shooting range" for benchmark/test purposes and itt would also be a fun social feature. Maybe not highest on Bungies priority list, but would certanly be a great addition.

I think duels where there is lots of cover, could make for some pretty intense battles.
