Robot Boobs
Why do robots in Destiny have boobs? Fuel tanks? Rocket boosters? Machine guns? Boobie traps?

They have boobs so you know they are female. It is the same reason that Science Fiction Writers have been giving for why robots are made to look so human when other forms are clearly superior: They have to be around humans and looking humanoid puts humans at ease.

I'd imagine it's because they have smaller frames, so their vital mechanics need additional armor for front/side protection. They could also act as recoil dampeners to compensate for their lighter chassis. All of this would be concealed in a faux-bust that gives a human like appearance. Or they're just aesthetic because reasons. *shifty eyes*

The technology used to create Exo's is said to be extremely advanced, and it's also said that only the Ghosts of the Traveler are able to decipher their technological wonderment. Sorry about nerding out there. *Ahem* Well the demand is high for robotic companionship in reality, perhaps the creaters of the Exo's were a bit more dirty than we know, hm?
