I get excited when I turn in a Legendary Engram and get a blue. I think it's a complete myth that they actually turn into Legendary's. As for Exotics you would have more chance of finding the source of the Nile and the Lost City of Atlantis than finding one of these.

I got a legendary LMG called "The Swarm" from a legendary engram.

I actually got my patience and time from a legendary engram. I also got an exotic titan chest piece from a legendary engram as well.
