Bungie are well known for making subtle references to various world histories and lores in their previous games (eg Durandal, Cortana to name a couple of key figures named after legendary swords).
I like that they've continued this trend in Destiny.

I am as well. It adds a depth to the game that I've never seen anywhere else. It makes me feel bad for all the people who do not pick up on the depth of Destiny, and hate the game for not having enough content.

Yeah - the Grimoire cards definitely do add a lot of interesting bits of lore, especially some of the dead ghost ones. The sad thing is the majority of players never even see it all.
