Very far off. But as that guy said, read the book. If you don't read Italian you get a lot less of the symbolic nature, but the English version is still damn good.

In biblical text, yes. In the bible Hell is certainly miserable, but also rather bland. I'm sure there's a wiki for it even, and prolly 2 paragraphs at most.
