... I'm pretty sure this feature already exists.
Go [url=http://www.bungie.net/en/profile/254/12809#context=settings&tab=notifications]here[/url] and uncheck those that bother you in the left column (the one with an envelope above it). Should solve the problem.
Edit: Oh wait, that's email. How annoying. So unchecking all the available columns does nothing to solve this?

Yeah, it's e-mail, mobile, and website notifications, respectively. The issue is that it isn't even a setting- to have PMs just be actual PMs. Or even to just receive mobile notifications for actual PMs. There's one option for 'group join requests,' but it's for alliances and not actual group join requests.
