I think the "and stuff" is going to be the sticky point in this plan. How is this GAI geared, what weapons is it rocking, what level is it, what skill tree and subclass does it have? Can it get you into a strike? What about a raid? Team up with you in PvP? Will it defend you if you go AFK? Do you get xp for kills it makes? Assists? Can it revive you? Does it get loot? Do you share loot? Is it persistent?
It seems to run pretty counter to the design philosophy Bungie keeps talking about. They want an activity for every gaming mood. Requesting a tool to make every activity fit the same mood (asocial), might be more of a conceptual stretch than they are willing to make. There's plenty of solo stuff to do. This is a lot of development work you're asking for, and a lot of setup you'd then have to do, just to have a battle pet that undercuts all the work Bungie put into funneling us into social structures.
It's interesting, but I don' think it'd fit well in the Destiny framework. It sounds like what you need is a robo-dog that you can play robo-fetch with. :)

I was thinking if it was for explore mode only, that would be great.
