Why don't they give us an option on background music in the game? I'd rather listen to the ambient sounds around me.

Because they would need to make ambient sounds, and with only birds seeming to have survived the collapse, it would be difficult

Just about every game I've ever played, has the option of bringing the music down. it seems very odd to me, they cannot do this for us...
