Storyline wise, the Empire comes off as douchy but a lot less corrupt/shady and the Republic comes off as super corrupt and douchy, so I see why you would think that but see my other reply for details of what I'm talking about.
The way the PvE stories worked was that the Empire Events tended to take place before the Republic events. This means after you spent hours upon hours taking over a planet for the Empire. it didn't mean shit because the republic quests have them coming in after you and taking it back. I literally wiped the republic off of this one planet in the game and made it a big diplomatic incident where the Rupiblic got outed for sending troops and Jedi to the planet (owned by the empire) disguised as freedom fighters, committing acts of terrorism on the planet. how does the republic side go? they come in after the empire characters leave and win the planet over for the republic.
Seriously -blam!- that. Bioware can kiss my ass for that one...
Empire comes off as a lot less douchy than the republic overall storyline wise but I'm not playing a game where the storyline overwrites itself depending on which side you are on. If it's not a pvp planet then a empire pve planet should stay an empire planet and a republic pve planet should stay a republic planet.
