No they don't, they are evil. Feeding on the souls of unborn children and the blood of unicorns. It's how they get freckles, their failed attempts at obtaining normal pigmentation leave them.
The purple ball would have NOTHING to do with those soulless beings. In fact, if I think about it now, they might be the darkness. Only a ginger would need that kind of darkness, purple ball forbid they go into the sunlight!
