They will put mm in eventually. What most have missed is that launch without means the complaints and discussions that will happen will tell bungi exactly what the mm has to do and how to do it.

  • The number of people who are complaining is actually quite small.
I understand everyone's frustration about the decision to not have matchmaking in a post-matchmaking world. I also understand the limitations that this places on the activity's adoption at scale. That barrier to entry - the requirement that you get a group of people together and venture into something that is going to challenge your ability to work together (first) and your thumbs (second) - is a barrier I was willing to erect to preserve the activity goals. • Actually it's not and if you've looked at a few polls that have been posted on the forum regarding whether there should be Matchmaking all of the ones I've seen are 50/50. Half the community on the forum is not quite small and actually the main crowd that Matchmaking would cater to most are those that never even visit the forum to begin with which is a huge portion of the player base.

Those polls....which have about less than two hundred votes...which is less than 1% of the people that will be playing this game. A poll that makes no effort whatsoever to identify the composition of the community it's polling prior to conducting the poll in order to determine skewing. B.net's forum community is a joke, and has been a joke for years.

Exactly and I can guarantee with certainty the portion of the community that would most be interested in Matchmaking, which is the casual player base that do not frequent the forums, make up a very large percentage of votes if polls on places like the official forums are ending up 50/50 where your more dedicated hardcore players who would be joining groups and clans are more likely to look and post their opinion and cast a vote in the poll.
Exactly and I can guarantee with certainty
That implies statistical evidence. Forgive me if I call bull shit until you actually provide said statistical evidence. Because there is no such thing as hard core gamers or just regular gamers that also don't frequent the forums right? Because, it's not possible that players have other websites to go to to find clans and groups for Destiny, and therefore wouldn't be here to give their input, right? Right?

All I'm saying is that the percentage of hardcore gamers that join clans and build groups and spend countless hours on the game is a much much smaller percentage to the casual fan base on console which is why the biggest competitive scenes especially for games like MMO's are on PC. PC players tend to be more invested and so therefore have a higher percentage of hardcore gamers that frequent the forums because they have to be on a computer just to play the game. That's not the case with console games which for many may entail nothing more than buying the game at Walmart or BestBuy and never even going near a computer to visit the Destiny forum and in turn likely never even give thought to joining a clan or creating groups beyond what few friends they have in real life that also buy the game.

I honestly don't know how to respond to this other than ask why you keep mentioned percentages and certainty without actually giving me numbers, data, graph. Ya know, anything that would actually indicate you know what you're talking about. I mean why did you even mention PC gamers. How does that in anyway relate to our discussion on why polls on this forum regarding a console only title mean absolutely nothing?
...the percentage of hardcore gamers ... is a much much smaller percentage to the casual fan base...
That's going to be true on any platform, but that doesn't explain your need to have the entirety of the game cater to casuals. And also why is it you're so adamant to cater to casual gamers?

  • Ive made this point soo many times they just act elitist about being a veteran wow player for example, it never crosses there minds to have an option too be or not to be lol shakespear will be disapointed but even though its a joke its still true, y r u not asking for the option to use or not to use that is the question.

Have you noticed that Bungie doesn't post important info here? Why is that? Why do they prefer NeoGAF to their own forums? Also, I suggest Googling how polling works and what makes a poll valid and/or scientific. Believing that a random poll on an internet forum is not inordinately biased is asinine at best.

They post on other forums because they want to avoid being attacked over decisions and having to reply to the hard questions as much as possible so they post to locations that gives them the least responsibility to respond back or allows them to skirt around the real questions. It's why they do interviews with places like IGN. EA/Dice does the exact same thing with Battlefield 4 and all the many issues it has had. The devs rarely post on the official forums or keep the community in the loop on that they're working on and instead post actively on the private CTE forums which are only available to PC players in the CTE program.

No, it's because the NeoGAF community is far superior to this one. NeoGAF is where the gaming media hangs out... How long have you been in that cave?

I know all about NeoGAF and frequent the forum myself but that's not the main reason they do it. You don't ignore your own official forums where the players that participated in beta testing your game are most likely to look for Destiny news updates if you're trying to fully address the communities concerns and be completely transparent.
you're trying to fully address the communities concerns and be completely transparent.
So not speaking directly to gaming media so that they spread the information through their websites and other mediums to gamers that won't frequent B.net (Which would mean touching the actual majority of the Destiny community) is a bad idea? That's some genuine 100% fool proof logic you got there. No holes in it all. And I actually don't think they've ever claimed to want to be transparent. I pretty sure they tend to do the opposite, what with the whole going dark for months and even years at a time.

  • I didn't say it was a bad idea at all as long as you are ALSO taking part in communicating information with the thousands of players frequenting the official forums that you have set up FOR THE GAME. Why post the information first on NeoGAF instead of first on the Official forums and then to other locations like NeoGAF, Reddit, Twitter, ect?
