I've found, with Halo Reach particularly, that the "official" call outs for areas tend to be a bit over-complicated or non-descriptive. The competitive community do a much better job at labelling these areas in my opinion. If you're playing with a regular fireteam it's fun to come up with your own as well. I'm hoping there is some sort of custom game mode so we can run around the maps to explore and learn them for this purpose.

  • I'm tempted to agree with you on the "official" callouts paling in comparison to community-generated ones. And of course custom callouts amongst friends can be enjoyable (i.e. Halo 3's Boundless callout: "hiding behind boob"). I was just kinda theorizing that developer callouts being released early on would help eliminate some of that confusion when you make a callout and only half your team understands what you're saying and can react to it.

  • Yeah it's a good starting point. It would be cool if they released overhead views of all the maps before the launch so we can get our heads around the geometry.

  • Yeah! Even releasing overhead images at launch would help us out a lot, as we wouldn't have to generate those images ourselves and people could just go to town slapping callouts on them and reposting them right out of the gate.
