Yes it is canon. You don't have to be butthurt just because 343i can make a non-canon-breaking Halo game with little to no plot holes.

I like that part of the community the way it is. Without it, there's just a bunch of boring talk and speculation into things I'm not interested in. We do sometimes go overboard though.
