My PvP story. AKA, "Why I Suck at Competitive Shooters"
Once upon a time, there was boy who had a Playstation 2. When the XBox came out, his friends bought them, but he saw no reason to do the same. For a few years, his friends enjoyed playing Halo, and the boy had barely even heard of it.
One year, the boy's parents bought he and his brothers an Xbox 360 for Christmas. When news of this acquisition reached his friends, they enthusiastically suggested that the boy host a Halo party. The boy agreed.
That Halo party can best be defined as "Let's snipe the noob for 2 hours straight because we have the maps and spawn points memorized!!" The boy decided that he didn't care for competitive shooters anymore, and avoided the genre as a whole for several years because he felt too far behind everyone else to be able to catch up.
That being said, I'm going to try to enjoy myself and work on the PvP in this one. I don't know if it will hold my interest, but I do intend to give it a shot.
Edit: Wow, the formatting didn't work at all like it was supposed to. Hopefully it's just an issue with the Bungie site being a bit wonky at the moment.
Edit 2: Upon editing the post, the formatting has fixed itself. That was easy enough.

I started out late also. My first online FPS was MW2, and I couldn't believe how good some of the people were. I got quite a bit better at MW2, then played Black Ops for about a month, joined a competitive clan and got a LOT better quickly. It's amazing what having some good players on your team can do lol. I suggest you give it a shot because much of the frustration of PVP comes from having terrible teammates, or going against really good players. If you have a good team, it's a lot more enjoyable.

I hope you're right. Just tried my first PvP match of the Beta. Calling it a train wreck would be insulting to train wrecks.

Lol you'll get better.

It started off awesome! We were on the moon level, and I watched alpha gameplay so I knew the vehicles were important. So I stayed away from those to let better players utilize them and I hopped into the turret. First two kills of the match were both me blowing up opposing vehicles. Then it was just a lot of me dying before I had time to turn around to see who was shooting. I ended with like a .4 k/d ratio. I only managed kills with my nova bomb. I hated my gun, though. It was a poor decision to try out PvP with a weapon I'd never used before. And a worse decision to get rid of all the other guns based solely on what damage output was listed

Edited by MrAndroid: 7/16/2014 5:46:50 AMI completely understand. Really the only FPS games I ever liked were the campaign of of the original Killzone and Borderlands games. I'm just not that good at the PVP aspects. With that being said, I'm going to play the PVP of Destiny, though I'm going to do so with a stress free attitude.

Borderlands was the saving grace for me and the FPS genre. I largely found my niche in BL2 with a support focused Siren.

Even if you suck at shooters, you can always join us on missions and killing bosses. I'll always have your back!

Luckily enough, I can hold my own well enough in PvE in a game like this.
