Edited by BannedLemön: 7/15/2014 2:48:25 AMWhere have I shown anger in any form? I think you're tripping Decitron. It's okay that you enjoy Bungie's mediocre writing. Nobody here will judge you.
Where have I shown anger in any form? I think you're tripping Decitron.
You're little grabs for attention, filling up the forums with threads about how Bungie spurned your love, go well past "trolling". Your obsession is almost as thick as you are. You're like some dude obsessed with an ex, going on looking for validation about how her hair looks stupid or whatever you tell yourself.
filling up the forums with threads about how Bungie spurned your love, go well past "trolling".
I know right? Internet is srs bsns guise
Your obsession is almost as thick as you are.
You mean posting two threads that aren't even meant to be taken seriously? I guess I should start acting as salty as you and take everything literally. I hear the Fun Police pays a decent wage. Is that true? You know, with you being one of their best employees and all.

Oh man. I should have seen you were just trolling and not being serious. How could I have been so mislead by your thinly veiled tirade. So, for real. Gimme the deets of what you wanted the Halos to be in the dream journal they sent back to you with the rest of your resume? Was Master Chief going to take off his mask to show he's really a G.I. Joe?

Others were able to understand what this thread was, so why weren't you?
How could I have been so mislead by your thinly veiled tirade.
Like I said. It's because you're the top ranking officer of the local Fun Police Department. and you never answered my question on how much you're paid by them.
So, for real. Gimme the deets of what you wanted the Halos to be in the dream journal they sent back to you with the rest of your resume?
What I would have preferred? Well, I would have preferred that Reach didn't break canon and to actually be based off of Nylund's book instead.
Was Master Chief going to take off his mask to show he's really a G.I. Joe?
Fun Police having a sense of humour? This is absolutely not allowed.

This is absolutely not allowed.
I know you're daft and all, but if you knew what half the words you've been quoting meant, you'd know that I have a GREAT sense of humor... Mostly at your expense. Also, http://uk.xbox.gamespy.com/xbox/halo-2/562962p2.html Game canon supersedes book canon at all times. 343i still maintains that policy. I've shown you this before. Thought I'd remind you. Better off that way; Nylund is a hack that writes for the lowest common denominator anyway.
-
What's your beef with Nylund?
-
The Spartan 3s felt (and probably were) like they were written as an excuse for him to have more Spartans doing stuff in more stories. His characters (who people profess up and down are "characterful") are just uber-simplified "heroic asshole" tropes. And his plots feel like excuses to introduce some stupid new big thing for someone to blow up. He's basically the Micheal Bay of books, but with worse action scenes (what was it? Fanchette rounds from an AR bouncing off the floor of an orbital museum to kill Hunters?). Also, for someone who decided that Spartans like Chief should be "sociopaths", he has no idea what that actually means, other than having the characters be ok with killing people for whatever only when he wants to demonstrate that "character trait".
-
I guess i'm part of that "lowest common denominator" then, because i enjoyed them, and have yet to find a better writer for the series, Bear notwithstanding. He has a history in writing military-style books/stories, and i feel that he accomplished that well in the few that he wrote. Also, your first sentence could apply to Bungie in Reach. Just saying.
-
There's only one in game bit of dialog from Jorge about the characters of Noble being S3s. Ignore that, and they're just a bunch of normal S2s. Also, not saying the concept of Spartan 3s can't be done. Just saying Nylund's were shite. Also, Tobias is a good Halo writer. TCP was a brilliant bit of sci-fi-noir. Like Halo meets Maltese Falcon and Total Recall (the old good Total Recall, not the new one that's like the old one sans charm). I've heard good things about Staten's book; I should hunt that down some time.
-
Cole Protocol was good, but i enjoyed Bear's more. I haven't read Contact Harvest. But they're still in prototype MkV MJOLNIR. I'm just saying that Bungie shot themselves in the foot a bit, with how they included all of the extra lore, so to speak, in Reach. It's like i said in my earlier post; Why not just make them Red or Blue team? Both were on Reach at the time, iirc. They would fit into lore better anyways. It just seems like Staten was mad that someone fleshed out his lore better than he did, and he wanted to assert his writing over the extended fiction. Bungie has always been good at building universes, but i never felt they really fleshed out the universe well enough.
