Check it out, in this video go to 2:39, his titan says it has 2/3 subclasses! there's been a lot of speculation but this pretty much confirms it!
Note: I know this is clearly not an actual confirmation, but between the fact that theres 3 element's and classes are based around an element, all evidence points to 3 subclasses
Update: thanks to a few people for pointing out some mistakes I made, guess we'll all just have to wait for the final game to see. Also unless somebody provides a source from bungie saying we can get multiple copies of a subclass after locking, don't bother posting that.

2 RepliesSince it seems nobody else has really pointed out the biggest, most obvious thing hinting that the 2/3 has NOTHING to do with the number of available subclasses, here goes: You can clearly see that every other item on that list is amount of items / inventory limit meaning that for that one, single "Subclasses" to mean something completely different would not make any sense. So yeah, can't think of a rational explanation for the amount of available subclasses for the character being in the same list with inventory. Makes more sense for it to be just subclasses inside the characters inventory.

4 RepliesThe warlock has the blue orb on the character selection screen. It had that in the alpha.
-
2 RepliesThe biggest takeaway for me: "Which vendors are currently occupying the tower..." So the faction vendors themselves change from day to day?
-
There has to be 3 subclasses cuz there's a video where a hunter raises his hand and a blue explosion goes all around him which hasn't been seen in the blade dancer or gunslinger subclasses

2 RepliesEdited by Fine_Meister: 7/14/2014 10:46:28 PMTyger, I've given you credit and linked this post on my IGN Breakdown thread for finding that. Check out my thread: http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post?id=66294117&path=1 Thanks!

2 RepliesEdited by Alcarin96: 7/15/2014 1:53:43 PMFor now we only know for sure that Titans have at least 2 subclasses: Striker (the one with the Fist of Havoc) and the other subclass with the shield (name unknown). Obviously this means that the other classes will have at least 2 subclasses too.
-
13 RepliesI'm gonna be Devils advocate and tell you why I think there are not 3 subclasses (at least at launch). The 2/3 probably indicates 2 out of the 3 inventory slots are filled in the subclass section. Bungie has told us when a subclass is locked it generates a new blank subclass to upgrade. With three inventory slots and the subclass that is equipped you can have two of each subclass with very different abilities in each variation. Having each class only able to represent two elements will foster cooperation between classes. A Titan trying to take on powerful enemies that are vulnerable to solar damage will want to enlist the help of a gunslinger and firesinger and so on for the other two classes.

1 ReplyEdited by TheWowso: 7/15/2014 4:27:11 AMHas anyone actually tried to think of what it could be? I honestly can't imagine what wonders await us, but when we do find out, I'm gonna be like " of course that's a Super, it's so obvious!" lol

Solar long for the Titan. Arc for the Warlock. Void for the Hunter. That's just my guess though.
-
1 ReplyWait, Titans only have one: God Mode Well, I suppose it is probably God Mode 1, 2 and 3.

3 RepliesThis makes me want a Warlock Arc Chain Lightning Super so bad.

3 RepliesI believe this is true, a third void based hunter class possibly stealth oriented would make sense, the one animation we've seen of a hunter cloaking seems to be arc based, so the void hunter might be speed oriented then. An arc warlock would make sense to be a engineer like class with something turret like maybe, but a role for a thermal based titan is what really stumps me, as it not obvious what a thermal titan role would be we will just have to wait and see.

4 RepliesSo something WoW and other MMOs have had for over a decade now Good to know.
-
Void hunter? -blam!- yeah!
-
4 RepliesI think there has to be a 3rd subclass. I remember a while ago bungie saying that the warlock could be considered a great support class. Basically healing and buffs for your allies or something like that.. We have not seen any warlock abilities with any support type abilities so i'm willing to bet that a third subclass is there. Also why would there only be two sub-classes? 3 is a better number and makes more sense.

I was thinking the same too. Since the golden gun does solar damage and the arc blade does arc damage, maybe the hunter has some sort of void cloak or something. It felt more complete. Same thing goes for titan and warlock. The fist of havoc is arc damage and the nova bomb is void. And so on. I wonder what their last ability is. Im also guessing u'll need to be a certain level after obtaining motes of light since u get the second subclass at lvl 15.
